For one Pennsylvania homeowner, that's exactly what happened. Thanks to a partnership between MobilityWorks Allentown and Aqua Creek Products, Kim was able to safely return to her backyard pool with the installation of a Ranger™ 2 Pool Lift.

A Goal Worth Achieving

Kim's health had been declining, making it increasingly difficult to safely enjoy her above-ground residential pool. Determined to spend another summer in the water, she turned to MobilityWorks Allentown for an accessibility solution that would help her continue doing something she loved.

MobilityWorks is a national provider of mobility and accessibility solutions with more than 100 locations across the United States. While other MobilityWorks branches had installed Aqua Creek products before, this project marked the first Aqua Creek pool lift installation for the Allentown location.

According to Kim Kessler, Home Access Coordinator at MobilityWorks Allentown, the project was about much more than installing equipment.

"Our client's health condition has been on the decline. She wanted to use her gorgeous pool for one more season and was very determined to do so. Aqua Creek's products, compassion, and team made that possible, allowing our client to enjoy the simple pleasure of maintaining her independence and using her pool."

Choosing the Right Residential Pool Lift

For this project, MobilityWorks selected the Aqua Creek Ranger™ 2 Pool Lift, a residential pool lift designed to provide safe and reliable access for many above-ground pool applications. Before installation began, the MobilityWorks team utilized Aqua Creek's Pool Lift Evaluation Guide to determine proper placement and verify all necessary site measurements.

"The Pool Lift Evaluation was most helpful and full of details for necessary placement and measurements," Kim Kessler explained.

Careful planning before installation helped ensure the project moved forward efficiently while giving the installers confidence throughout the process.

Working Together to Find a Solution

Even with proper planning, unexpected challenges can occasionally arise during an installation.

After the initial installation, an issue required a replacement anchor. Rather than allowing the project to stall, the teams at MobilityWorks Allentown and Aqua Creek worked together to quickly resolve the problem. Aqua Creek expedited shipment of the new anchor, allowing the installation to be completed with minimal delay.

Kim Kessler also praised the support she received from Aqua Creek throughout the project.

"Jeffrey Reynolds was very responsive and proud to represent Aqua Creek Products and the team."

That level of responsiveness helped keep the focus where it belonged—getting Kim safely back into her pool as quickly as possible.

A Successful First Installation

This project also represented an important milestone for the MobilityWorks Allentown branch. As their first Aqua Creek pool lift installation, it demonstrated how the right training, planning resources, and manufacturer support can help dealers confidently expand the accessibility solutions they offer their customers.

Since completing this installation, the branch has already begun helping additional customers with aquatic accessibility needs.

Kim Kessler summed up the experience this way:

"The price point is very affordable. The ease of working with the company was pleasurable. We do not use any other vendor for our pool lift needs. You have a mutual business client for as long as we hope."

Spend a few hours with the team at Empower Spinal Cord Injury (Empower SCI), and you'll walk away thinking about everything that's still possible.

Recently, Aqua Creek Products had the opportunity to welcome members of Empower SCI to our headquarters in Missoula, Montana. What began as a tour of our manufacturing facility quickly turned into something much more meaningful. We talked about accessibility, aquatic recreation, the evolution of the ADA, and the role thoughtful design plays in helping people enjoy the water safely and independently.

Those conversations were insightful, but they only told part of the story.

A few days later, our team joined Empower SCI for one of their community gatherings at Free Cycles Missoula. There was live music filling the air, food being shared, old friends reconnecting, and plenty of introductions between people meeting for the first time. It felt less like an organized event and more like a family reunion—one built on shared experiences, encouragement, and the understanding that no one has to navigate life's challenges alone.

That's the thing about Empower SCI.

Their mission isn't simply to provide resources for people living with spinal cord injuries. They help people rediscover confidence, build meaningful connections, and realize that life after an injury can still be filled with adventure, travel, recreation, and new experiences.

It's easy to focus on the equipment when you work in our industry. Pool lifts, accessibility standards, engineering, and compliance are all important pieces of the puzzle. But organizations like Empower SCI remind us that the goal has never been the equipment itself.

The goal is participation.

It's the confidence to join your family in the pool instead of watching from the deck. It's taking a swim while on vacation whenever you want, without having to ask for assistance. It's signing up for adaptive sports, meeting new friends, or simply feeling like you belong in spaces that everyone else enjoys.

Those experiences don't happen because of one organization, one product, or one piece of legislation. They happen because advocates, nonprofits, manufacturers, facility operators, caregivers, and communities continue working toward the same goal: removing barriers that keep people from living life on their own terms.

That shared commitment is what made our time with Empower SCI so meaningful.

We left inspired - not because we learned something entirely new about accessibility, but because we were reminded who accessibility is really for. Behind every accessible pool, every adaptive program, and every inclusive facility is a person with goals, passions, plans, and places they want to go.
